Monica Trauzzi serves as Chief Communications Officer of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), where she leads the organization’s integrated communications strategy and oversees Communications, Brand, Marketing, and Public Utilities Fortnightly. In this role, she drives SEPA’s positioning as a leading voice in the evolving energy sector, shaping narratives that elevate the organization’s work, amplify member impact, and convene industry dialogue on the most pressing power sector challenges.
Trauzzi brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of energy, climate, communications, and public affairs. A former journalist, she is known for translating complex policy and technology issues into compelling, accessible storytelling that engages policymakers, business leaders, and industry stakeholders. She specializes in integrated, multi-platform communications strategies that expand visibility, influence decision-makers, and strengthen thought leadership across the energy ecosystem.
Prior to joining SEPA, Trauzzi served as Senior Director at Invariant, where she developed and executed energy and sustainability strategies for clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to emerging startups. She also served as Senior Director of External Communications and Climate Finance Strategy at the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), where she led communications efforts to position nuclear energy as a central solution to climate change and launched the video series Off the Menu with Monica Trauzzi.
Trauzzi began her career at E&E News, where she served as Managing Editor and Anchor of E&ETV, including the daily interview program OnPoint with Monica Trauzzi. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
